Alex Hutchings: Blues Extensions
Alex Hutchings returns to the JTC hot seat once again to deliver another flawless display of Blues soloing! In this 5 track series, Alex is jamming over some straight forward original Blues tracks, but with a twist! The concept of his soloing in these tracks is all about adding a deeper level of extension to the harmonies. Of course, the sheer amount of new licks here to learn is vast but overall Alex wanted to take some classic Blues licks and phrases and add a whole new level to them!
This is a true masterclass in Blues from a world renowned guitarist and musician. By studying, analysing and learning all of the licks and lines in these great tracks you will achieve a whole new level of inspiration and creativity from Alex which will help you approach your own Blues soloing with a greater knowledge and understanding of improvisation and melodic sophistication!
The backings for this package were written by one of JTC’s backing track gurus James Graydon and contain the perfect blend classic blues, shuffle tracks, up-tempo blues and a sexy bluesy ballad – what’s not to love!
Check out the promo video and prepare yourself for an Alex Hutchings masterclass in blues!
For those that are wondering (and because we get asked a lot) Alex tunes his guitar in straight fourths. This allows for more symmetry in the chord / scale shapes and lends itself better to visualising your way around the neck when improvising and composing. Because of this, Alex’s strings are tuned to EADGCF but don’t fret (pun intended), we have also included the solos / lines transposed into standard EADGBE tuning as well.
As ever, we have accurately transcribed every note and included the TAB / notation in the download, full backing tracks, audio solos and track notes.

Minor Scale Soloing Masterclass: Complete Box Set

We’re back with another ‘JTC Original’, bringing you a complete course packed with everything you need from how to get started, up to how to master advanced soloing in minor keys!
Each pack is available individually but as this is a full course designed to cover everything you’ll need, we highly recommend picking up this full box set version! No matter what level you are at, you will learn something new or consolidate the fundamentals on your way to mastery!
Each of the three masterclass volumes comes complete with the following:
– A main masterclass PDF file (with diagrams), designed to be your ‘guiding light’ for the course. In this we will cover and explain everything you need from theory concepts to playing tips and explanations.
– Exercises that will help you practise and perfect the masterclass concepts. These will help you drill and absorb the knowledge you’ve learned, applying it practically to the neck.
– Licks created specifically to take the theory out of the classroom and onto the stage! These will help you to apply the practise concepts to bitesized musical examples that can be used and incorporated in your own playing ideas.
– A full solo which acts as your ‘final challenge’ for each volume! Study, understand and master this … and you’re ready to tackle the next part! These solos have been designed to get you playing and jamming on the neck using and applying the concepts / knowledge you’ve learned into a ‘real world’ situation!

Let’s give you an insight into the depth of this full course by outlining just some of the subjects covered in each volume:
The beginner volume will focus on getting you thoroughly up to speed with the basics. We’ll be covering the common minor scales and their theories, followed by a focus on finding the fretboard shapes you’ll need and building the familiarity across the neck (rather than staying inside box positions!).
The intermediate volume will build on the knowledge gained from the beginner volume by dialling in your approach to soloing over certain chords with target tones, seamlessly changing tonal centers mid-solo, and covering the basics of dominant resolution (something that will be covered in detail in the advanced volume). We’ll build up the foundations with more complicated ideas and start preparing you for the advanced material coming later!
In the final advanced volume we will be focusing on pushing the boundaries even further by looking at advanced theory concepts and really testing and increasing your fretboard knowledge. This final volume will solidify everything we’ve worked on in the previous two volumes and provide you with fresh new challenges designed to help you towards mastery of the minor scales! Specifically, we’ll be looking at the infamous minor ii-Vi progression, tension and release with cadences, altered dominant sounds (and theory), further development of target tones as well as a look at which advanced scales / modes are available such as harmonic minor, melodic minor, superlocrian, half-whole diminished and others! Even if you understand the theory behind the minor ii-Vi, you’ll find the licks in this package will show you new ways to approach the progression!
So as you can see, whether you’re new to the concepts, need a refresher on the fundamentals, or looking to push your boundaries and take your soloing to a whole new level, this course will guide you every step of the way through from the basics to complete mastery!
As ever, we have included everything you need to practise and perfect the material in this package. There are video and audio tracks for you to watch / listen and study, accurately transcribed TAB / notation for you to analyse and master, and backing tracks for everything!

This is the original version of The Complete Basic Course on DVD. Itâ € ™ s divided into six Levels and is available in this three DVD set. Each level includes a guitar tab booklet. Although this was recorded in 1992 it is still quite relevant. Yes, the Complete Basic Course 2007 is the revised version of this program. Still, there are a lot of great exercises and motivation tips here not found in the current program. It is recommended that you use this material as supplemental for todayâ € ™ s program, The Complete Basic Course 2007 Revision.
Itâ € ™ s good enough that we didnâ € ™ t need to revise it for fifteen years. Thatâ € ™ s pretty good. How is it different from todayâ € ™ s version? Well, we did learn a thing or two over those fifteen years. Thatâ € ™ s why we revised the course. But the cool thing about this version is, itâ € ™ s closer to our roots, and most students think itâ € ™ sa bit heavyier. The exercises are a little more intense.

It doesnâ € ™ t matter whether you just want to learn to play guitar or to become a better guitarist. This course is easy enough for beginners yet challenging for advanced players. These are the guitar lessons that made us famous. The course is divided into twenty-four weekly lessons. Each lesson covers technique, theory, equipment pointers and motivation tips. Weâ € ™ ll teach you how to set attainable goals and have a lot of fun achieving them.
The Complete Course 1992 DVDs utilize a menu system for easy navigation. You can find and repeat each exercise at the touch of a button. This includes six hours of video recorded on 3 DVDs with six guitar tab booklets which will be sent to your email address.

Born in Porto Alegre, South of Brazil, I was exposed to a strong mixed culture of music from Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay. I started to play guitar in my childhood, at the age 13 and under influence by Mark Knopfler, David Gilmour, Jimmy Page and Stevie Ray Vaughan. I took private lessons and few years later I started to teach in some music schools in Porto Alegre and by doing that I got involved in projects like guitar clinics, master classes and I also become a session player. Besides that, I was also studying music and I graduated in Music Performance and later on in Guitar & Technology, Music Pedagogy. I am also an orchestrator certified by Berklee USA.
While in Brazil I also worked for advertising companies in Porto Alegre Brazil, and this was considered to be in one of the greatest schools in my life, to be able to understand the message and create musical ideas quickly, playing and recording many styles .. . This was definitely one of the greatest schools in my journey. I studied music for 10 years … studied? Actually I never stopped learning, few months ago I was studying Jazz Improvisation through a Berklee online courses with Gary Burton! That was a great teaching moment as well, and also very inspiring.
In 2013 a lot of things happened in my life! I recorded some guitar tracks in a project of a Grammy-nominated composer / producer Rick Hale, also for Darkyra black (Metal Project from Australia), vital Science (Progressive Metal Band from Estonia / Latvia). I took part in a great project called Guitar Wizards by Versailles Records and I am one of the guitar players in the project and in my team I had Garry King on Drums (Jeff Beck, Joe Lynn Turner), Mike Lepond (Symphony X) and Sergey Boykov on the Keys (Vital Science).
This collection bringing many of the top guitarists including solos from Damon Johnson (Brother Kane, Thin Lizzy), Jake E Lee (Ozzy Osbourne Band, Badlands), Keri Kelli (Alice Cooper Band, Ratt, LA Guns, Slash’s Snakepit, etc), Jimmy Crespo (Aerosmith), Bernie Marsden (Whitesnake), Blues Saraceno (Poison), George Lynch (Dokken, Lynch Mob), Gilby Clarke (Guns N Roses, Heart, MC5), Ira Black (Metal Church, Lizzy Borden) on a track that also features Chris Slade (AC / DC), and Chris Poland (Megadeth), Glen Alvelais (Testament), and Jan Hammer (Miami Vice Theme Writer) among others.
2013 was also the year I moved from Iceland to Sweden and here I teach music and technology and I also teach online via Skype and work with music production, orchestration for films, games and now I am one of the instructors at GMC! I am always ready to Rock!
