Description : For Old Broken Piano, we recorded an old piano, released in the 1940s by the brothers Manegold. He was not serviced and tuned for decades, which gave him a unique, gloomy and nostalgic sound character. The instrument was recorded using a Sennheiser MKH 8040 stereo pair connected to the Sound Devices 702T.
To play the piano we used non-standard approaches: violin bows, various hammers and sticks, kitchen utensils, sticky tape and just hands. The piano case was partially dismantled to gain direct access to the strings and internal components of the instrument. A wide range of interesting sounds was received: by bowing, scraping or striking on single and several strings or on the wooden body of the instrument. For longer resonances, the sustain pedal was active in almost all records.
Old Broken Piano is a collaboration between SampleTraxx and the German sound engineer Sebastian Emling. This library is the perfect companion for any professional sound designer or composer of trailers.
Source Records : Old Broken Piano contains more than 140 sounds recorded in the purest 24/96 Wav HD, which can be used as building blocks for creating textures, atonal abstraction, musical and fantastic sound design for horror, trailers and soundtracks.
