Description:
~Unusual experience~
CR-78 – Cherry Audio’s first virtual drum machine accurately recreates the piercing analog
sounds and 34 preset rhythms of the first true classic drum machine, but it goes much further.
We’ve done away with complex rhythm programming, replacing it with a familiar X0X-style interface with buttons and steps,
and added an easy-to-use composition mode for creating a chain of patterns.
Unlike sample-based emulators, Cherry Audio’s CR-78 uses simulated synthesis to recreate
classic tones of the original and takes a quantum leap forward by making those sounds fully editable.
Features four studio-quality effects with a uniquely fast and fun “submit button” for each individual
tone in the effects and mixer section, which also includes a full mixer, compressor and six-band graphic equalizer.

In 1978, following the success of its AceTone electronic rhythm machines, Roland introduced a not-so-little box that made a huge impression. The CompuRhythm CR-78, the first programmable, preset-based, microprocessor-controlled analog beatbox designed for organ use, was completely new.
With multi-colored buttons for pattern presets, distinctive analog tones, and basic pattern programming, the CR-78 became the first drum machine as we know it. Professional musicians such as Blondie, Ultravox, Phil Collins and Genesis, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Roxy Music, The Cars, Hall and Oates and many others immediately adopted and perpetuated this revolutionary device.
